Deciding what to wear for senior pictures can seem like a daunting task. There are many things to consider when deciding on outfits for your senior portraits. By following our tips and reviewing our what to wear guide, we can help you choose clothing and accessories that compliment your hair, skin tones and eye color. What’s important to remember when preparing for your senior portraits is to pick styles and clothing that represent you!
1. Clothing – Keep it Simple!
We always recommend our seniors to wear colors that are complementary to their features, such as hair color, eye color, and skin tone. Solid-colored clothing photographs very well and keeps you in focus. Remember, YOU want to stand out in your photos, not your clothes! Avoid busy patterns, sequins, graphic tees, and bright neon or fluorescent colors. By sticking to what you wear every day, you’re showcasing the truest representation of you!
2. Outfits – Bring options!
There are many different sides of you that make up you, that's why we recommend bringing at least three different looks to your photo session. Some suggestions are a casual look, a formal look, school gear, favorite costumes, or a uniform. Ultimately, make sure to bring your favorite outfits, because when you look good, you feel good!
3. Accessories – Keep it minimal!
Adding fun accessories and props can really make a plain photo fun and interesting! It’s important to not over accessorize and to avoid distracting jewelry or busy ties. Consider what your hobbies, skills, and talents are and how you can incorporate them into your session. Whatever you choose, make sure it represents you!
4. Day of shoot – Be prepared
It’s best to lay out outfits and accessories the night before your shoot. Make sure your clothes are freshly ironed and free of any stains or rips. We also recommend bringing to your session a comb and extra make-up for any touch ups and a lint roller so clothes stay looking nice and fuzz free.
